Asa’s Mezzanine were born in 2021 from the union of piano, synth, drums, bass and guitar, generating a musical texture characterized by dark and intense atmospheres, soaring riffs and occult scenarios.
With an approach to art rock that embraces influences stoner, metal, doom, electronica, progressive and a wide range of extra-musical inspirations, the band has created an enigmatic and rhythmically articulated sound in a perpetual tension between stillness and noise.
In July 2022 they released their first EP, When She Met Herself, a concept album enriched by a dark dreamlike tale written in collaboration with Paolo Sirio (author and novelist) and released as a limited edition. The work combines music, images and words, offering an immersive experience that takes the listener on a journey between sound and vision, listening and reading.
Consisting of eight instrumental tracks and available on all digital platforms, When She Met Herself is described as “in perfect, symbiotic, search for a conduit… Between the Russian Circles of Carpe, the Burning Candle of 1981, the Coil of Five Minutes After Death” in Marina Sersanti’s review (TheUndergrounder.it).
In May 2024 they landed at Monolith Recording Studio to record their first full-length, released in January 2025 by Overdub Recordings: Rest And Fight.
The new album is a concept inspired by the physiological contrast between the responses “rest and digest” e “fight or flight” of the human nervous system.
Accompanied by a short story written by Paolo Sirio, the album offers an immersive experience, where music and narration merge in a continuous journey, expanded on the sonic, visual and conceptual planes. The limited edition includes an illustrated booklet and a live set accompanied by synchronized visuals.
As Daniele Ghiro wrote in his review in Buscadero magazine (April 2025), “Theirs is a hypnotic journey through stoner rock, psychedelia, prog, and an all-encompassing attitude that they manage to amalgamate to perfection… It is with Rest And Fight that Asa’s Mezzanine appear at their best by joining all the dots and fielding a superbly crafted song, eight and a bit minutes as intense as I’ve heard in a long time.”

When She Met Herself corresponds to the completion of a journey. Construction and deconstruction, hypnotic atmospheres and twisted sonic descents in a story that mixes industrial and metal, progressive and psychedelic, electronic research, organic and environmental sounds and jazz echoes. A free, claustrophobic and lysergic sound journey on the birth of contradiction in a storm of eerie odd sounds, on the intertwining of the upper and lower floors, on thinking against acting in the most hidden part of ourselves.
Composed, recorded and produced in total autonomy, the album is flanked by an illustrated novel written by novelist Paolo Sirio and designed and distributed by the band, which puts in black and white the hidden vision hidden behind the notes.
